Devlog Update: Scoring Enhancements and Enemy Behaviour
In this update, I focused on refining gameplay mechanics, enhancing the scoring system, and improving enemy behaviour to provide a more strategic and engaging experience.
New Features and Changes:
1. Scoring Enhancements:
Introduced a dynamic scoring system based on enemy states. Players earn different amounts of points for defeating enemies in their default state versus their enhanced red state, rewarding strategic decision-making.
Added collectible items, such as jewels, that increase the player’s score when collected. This encourages exploration and provides additional incentives for players to engage with the environment.
2. Delayed Enemy Transformation:
Implemented a delay mechanism for enemies turning red and gaining increased health. This adds a tactical element to combat, giving players a brief window to deal damage before enemies become more challenging.
3. Health Restoration with Food Items:
Added interactive food items that restore health upon collection. Each item has been configured with specific health values, providing players with opportunities to regain health strategically during gameplay.
4. Improved Item Pickup System:
The item pickup system was refined to handle various item categories, including collectible valuables like jewels and health-restoring food items. This system allows for flexible item configuration directly from the Inspector, reducing setup time and ensuring consistency in gameplay.
5. Enhanced Enemy Behaviour:
Enemies now exhibit more dynamic behaviour, transforming into a more powerful state after a brief delay. This gives players time to react and plan their approach, enhancing the challenge and engagement of encounters.
Known Issues:
Some item interactions may require further tuning to ensure balanced gameplay.
Additional testing is needed to verify consistent performance across different gameplay scenarios.
Next Steps:
Develop a system to store potions in the player inventory for use on demand.
Expand the level design with new challenges and rewards.
Implement additional interactive items to further enhance gameplay.
This update marks a significant step forward in creating a more engaging and strategic gameplay experience. Looking forward to adding more depth and variety to the game in the upcoming versions.
